Ortaokul öğrencilerinin İnternet kullanım alışkanlıklarının araştırılması

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı ortaokul öğrencilerinin İnternet alışkanlıkları ve bilinçli, güvenli kullanım farkındalıklarının ortaya çıkarmaktır. Bu amaçla yürütülen araştırmanın örneklemini 2013-2014 eğitim-öğretim yılında birinci dönemde Kars il merkezinde bulunan beş ortaokulda eğitim gören 5, 6, 7 ve 8. sınıftaki 442 ortaokul öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada tarama ve nedensel karşılaştırma yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Veriler İnternet Kullanım Alışkanlıkları ve Risklere Yönelik Alınan Önlemler Anketi ve Sosyal Paylaşım Siteleri Kullanım Alışkanlıkları Anketi uygulanarak toplanmıştır. Elde edilen araştırma verileri frekans, yüzde ve ki kare testi ile analiz edilmiştir.Araştırma sonuçlarına göre çocuklar İnterneti en fazla ders ve eğlence amaçlı kullanmaktadırlar. İnterneti bilinçli kullanmaya yönelik beceri düzeyleri düşüktür. İnternet kullanırken en fazla karşılaşılan problemler bilgisayara virüs bulaşması ve sosyal ağ şifresinin çalınmasıdır. Problemlere karşı alınan önlemler yetersiz düzeydedir. İnterneti güvenli kullanma konusunda çocuklar en çok aile üyelerinden bilgi almaktadırlar. Sosyal ağ sitelerinde uzun zaman geçirmemelerine rağmen kişisel bilgilerini doğru ve herkese açık paylaşanlar azımsanmayacak orandadır. İnterneti bilinçli kullanma yaklaşımlarında ve İnternette yaşanan sorunlara karşı alınan önlemlerde sınıf seviyelerine göre farklılıklar ortaya çıkmıştır. Cinsiyete göre yapılan analizde ise sosyal ağda gizlilik ayarları yapma haricinde anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamıştır. Ayrıca ebeveynlerin İnternet kullanım becerisinin düşük olduğu, İnterneti bilinçli kullanma yönelik tutumda bulunan ebeveynlerin az oranda olduğu, çocukların İnternet kullanımı ile ilgili en fazla ebeveynlerinden bilgi aldığı sonucu çıkmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına bağlı olarak çocuklara ve İnternet kullanımı konusunda yönlendirici rolde bulunan ebeveynlere önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

The purpose of this study is to reveal secondary students' habits of using Internet. For this aim, research's sample consisted of 452 student who studying 5,6,7,8 grade, from 5 different secondary schools which were located in Kars city center in first term of 2013-2014 academic year. Survey and comparative research methods were used. Data was gathered with `survey of habits of usage Internet and taken precautions for risks` and `survey of habits of usage social network sites`. The survey data was analyzed by frequencies, percentages and chi-square test.According to the study, children mostly used Internet for their course and fun and their skill level of conscious usage of Internet was low. The most common problems while using Internet was virus attack and stolen password. The taken precautions for these problems were inadequate. Another results showed that students mostly got information about usage of Internet from their family members. A considerable amount of students shared their personal info to everyone although they didn't spend long time in social network sites. Also, there was significant differences between students' conscious usage of Internet and taken precautions for the problems on the Internet according to grade level. According to the gender, there was no significant differences between them except for items of `making privacy setting on social networks`. On the other hand, the results showed that parents' skill of usage Internet was low and, less of them had attitude towards conscious usage of Internet and students got information mostly from their parents. Depending on these results, some suggestions were made for students and their parents in this study.
