Sosyal bilgiler dersinde eğitici çizgi roman ve eğitici çizgi film kullanımının öğrencilerin tutum, motivasyon ve akademik başarılarına etkileri

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı 6. sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersi `Bilim, Teknoloji ve Toplum` öğrenme alanında eğitici çizgi roman ve eğitici çizgi film kullanımın öğrencilerin derse ilişkin tutumları, motivasyonları ve akademik başarıları üzerindeki etkilerini ve öğretim materyallerine ilişkin öğrenci deneyimlerini ortaya çıkarmaktır.Yöntem: Çalışmada nicel ve nitel veri toplama yöntemlerinin bir arada kullanılmasına karar verilmiştir. Bu nedenle araştırmada karma desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışma karma yöntem desenlerinden gömülü desene uygun olarak yürütülmüştür. Çalışmanın nicel bölümünde eğitici çizgi roman ve eğitici çizgi filmlerin öğretim materyali olarak kullanılmasının etkisi karşılaştırılmıştır. Çalışmanın nicel boyutunda ön test- son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın nitel boyutunda ise fenomenoloji deseni kullanılmıştır. Öğrencilerin eğitici çizgi roman ve eğitici çizgi filmler hakkındaki düşüncelerinin belirlenmesi için öğrencilerle görüşmeler yapılmıştır.Bulgular: Analizler sonucunda elde edilen bulgulara göre eğitici çizgi romanların kullanıldığı Deney-1 ve eğitici çizgi filmlerin kullanıldığı Deney-2 grubu öğrencileri ile Kontrol grubu öğrencileri arasında tutum, motivasyon ve akademik başarı puan ortalamaları açısından anlamlı farklılık oluştuğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca Deney-1 ve Deney-2 grubu arasında tutum ve motivasyon değerleri açısından anlamlı bir farklılık oluşmazken akademik başarı puan ortalamaları açısından Deney-1 grubu öğrencileri lehine anlamlı farklılık oluştuğu görülmüştür. Görüşmelerden elde edilen bulgulara göre öğrencilerin eğitici çizgi roman ve eğitici çizgi filmlerin sınıf ortamında kullanmalarından memnun oldukları ve bu öğretim materyallerini öğretici, eğlendirici, dikkat çekici olarak değerlendirdikleri görülmüştür.Sonuç: Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde kullanılan eğitici çizgi roman ve eğitici çizgi filmlerin öğrencilerin derse ilişkin tutum, motivasyon ve akademik başarıları üzerinde olumlu etkiye sahip olduğu ve öğrencilerin bu öğretim materyallerini etkili ve olumlu bulduğu tespit edilmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Sosyal Bilgiler, eğitici çizgi roman, eğitici çizgi film

Purpose: The aim of this research is to determine the effect of educational comics and educational cartoons use in the `Science, Technology and Society` learning space on the 6th grade students' attitudes, motivation and academic achievements towards Social Studies Course. It is also aimed to reveal the students' experiences on the application process of teaching materials.Method: In this study, it was decided to use both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Therefore, mixed design was used in this research. The study was carried out in accordance with the embedded design from mixed method designs. In the quantitative dimension of the study, the effect of using educational comics and educational cartoons as teaching material was compared. For the quantitative dimension of this research, pre-test and post-test control group quasi-experimental design was preferred. For the qualitative dimension of this research, phenomenology design was used. In addition, interviews were conducted with the students to determine the students' opinions about using educational comics and educational cartoons as instructional materials.Findings: According to the data analysis, the Experimental Group-1 and Experimental Group2 students' attitude, motivation and academic achievement score averages were statistically significant higher than the Control Group students. In addition, while there was no statistically significant difference between the Experimental Group-1 and Experimental Group-2 groups in terms of attitude and motivation values, it was observed that there was a statistically significant difference in favor of Experiment-1 students in terms of academic achievement score averages. According to the findings of the interviews, students were satisfied with the use of educational comics and educational cartoons in the classroom and they evaluated these teaching materials as instructive, entertaining and remarkable.Result: It was found out that the educational comics and educational cartoons used in the Social Studies course have a positive effect on the students' attitude, motivation and academic achievement and that the students found these teaching materials effective and positive.Keywords: social studies course, educational comics, educational cartoons, academic achievement
