Urartu Devletinde zanaatkârlar ve zanaatkârlık

Abstract

`Urartu Devleti'nde Zanaatkârlar ve Zanaatkârlık` isimli bu tez çalışmasının amacı, M.Ö. I. binde Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi'nde Van merkezli kurulan Urartu Devleti'nde yapılan zanaat faaliyetlerinin, ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel yapıdaki yerini, filolojik ve arkeolojik kaynaklar ışığında ortaya koymaktır.Bu çalışma kapsamında, çivi yazılı metinler ve arkeolojik verilerin değerlendirilmesiyle tespit edilen çömlekçilik, dericilik, dokumacılık, metal işlemeciliği, taş ve ahşap işlemeciliği gibi başlıca zanaat dalları esas alınarak, bu zanaat dallarının organizasyonları, zanaatkârların uygulamış oldukları teknikler, üretmiş oldukları ürünler, zanaatkârların sosyal statüleri incelenmiştir.Urartu Devleti'nde zanaatkârların devlete bağlı olarak faaliyet gösterdikleri gibi serbest çalıştıkları da bilinmektedir. Devlete bağlı çalışan zanaatkârlar saygın bir konuma sahipti ve kalelerde ki özel evlerde yaşıyorlardı. Bu zanaatkârların hammadde, alet-edevat gibi her türlü ihtiyaçları devlet tarafından sağlanırdı. Serbest olarak çalışan zanaatkârların statüleri ise yeterli bilgi olmadığı için iyi aydınlatılamamıştır. Urartu Devleti, zanaat faaliyetleri için ihtiyaç duyduğu ürün ve hammaddeleri, hem doğal kaynaklardan hem de ticaretten ziyade savaş ganimetleri ve vergiler yoluyla sağlamayı başarmıştır. Devlet, hammadde yollarını kontrol altında tutmuş böylece zanaat faaliyetlerinin kesintiye uğramasına izin vermemiştir. Devletin zanaat faaliyetlerini desteklemesi ve üretimi kontrol altına almış olması zanaatkârlığın gelişmesinde önemli bir faktör olmuştur.

The aim of this thesis study called `The Craftsmen and Craftsmanship in the Urartian State` is to present the place of the crafting activities, which were carried out in the Urartian State established in Van as the center in the East Anatolian region in the first thousand BC, in the economical, social, and cultural structure, in the light of philological and archeological resources.Within the scope of this study, based on the leading crafts such as pottery, leatherworking, weaving, metal processing, stone and wood processing which were determined by evaluating the cuneiform scripts and the archaeological data, the organizations of these craft branches, the techniques applied by the craftsmen, the products manufactured, and the social statuses were analyzed.In the Urartian state, it is known that the craftsmen worked as freelance or for the state. The craftsmen who were working for the state had respectable status and were living in private residences in the castles. All of the needs of those craftsmen such as raw materials, tools and implements were provided by the state. The status of the craftsmen working as freelance couldn't be clarified well as there was no enough information.The Urartian state had managed to provide all the products and raw materials it needed by both its natural resources and spoils of war and taxes rather than trade. The state kept the routes of raw materials under control so as not to allow the crafting activities to be interrupted. The state's support for the crafting activities and keeping the production under control had been an important factor in the development of the crafts.Key Words: Urartian State, Craft, Economy, Pottery, Mine, Stone, Leather, Weaving.
