Abstract

ÖZET Orientring, cinsiyeti ve yeteneği ne olursa olsun bağımsız düşünen insanlara hitap eder. Bu kitap ile yarışmacıya, antrenöre ve orientringle ilgilenenlere rehberlik etmek ve teorik kaynak sıkıntısını ortadan kaldırmak amaçlanmıştır. Böyle bir amaçla işe başlandığından orientringin tarihçesinden malzemesine, teknik ve fitness eğitimine, psikolojik yaklaşıma, sağlık bilgilerine, yaş grupları ve fiziksel özelliklerinden yönetimine kadar kapsam geniş tutuldu. Bu kitabın hazırlanmasında değişik kaynaklardan yararlanıldı ve uzmanların perspektifinden orienteeringçinin kendi performansını geliştirebilmesini sağlayacak bilgi ve öğütler verilmeye çalışıldı. Orientring teknik bir spordur. Son analizde hızla gitme kapasitesinde olan bir orientringçinin kazanacak olmasına rağmen, fiziksel ve bedensel stres altındayken karmaşık kararlar alma konusundaki psikolojik faktörler ve rota seçiminin tahmini, orientring performansında koşma yeteneğinden daha önemli olabilmektedir. Dolayısıyla eğitim verecek orientring antrenörü bir çok branşta kendini geliştirmeli ve uzmanlaşmalıdır. SUMMARY Orienteering (hitting a target by using a compass and a map); recognized as an individual and a team activity in which people can hit / reach the target while challenging by himself and nature psychologically and using performance practical / applicable intelligence is an Scandinavian-born competition done with federation in many countries in the world. Having said all this, Orienteering is a technical sport. Although in the final analysis, the orienteer who is fit enough to travel fastest over the ground will win, the estimation and execution of route choice and mastery of all the psychological factors involved in making complex decisions while under physical and mental stress can be more significant in orienteering performance than running fitness. Like colleagues in other sports, the orienteering coaches have to be good organizers, motivators, communicators and confident in their specialist field, but more than in most sports they have to encourage competitors to think for themselves, to concentrate on making their own decisions in the forest and to be totally honest with themselves in identifying weaknesses and training to make them their strengths.
