Çökekler ve Okçular köylerindeki ölüm adetleri

Abstract

ÖZET Bu çalışma Sakarya Vilayeti merkez ilçesi olan Adapazarı'na bağlı Çökekler Köyü ile Kaynarca İlçesine bağlı Okçular Köyü'ndeki ölüm âdetleri üzerinedir. Ölüm, geçiş dönemlerinden biri olduğu için etrafında kümelenen âdetlerin sayısı da bir hayli fazla oluyor. Çalışma dört bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde çalışmanın amacı, kapsamı ve araştırılan köylerin tanıtımı yapılmıştır.. Bu köylerin bir özelliği de halkın Manav (yerli, yerleşik Türkmen) olmasıdır. Bu sebeple Manavlar'la ilgili bilgi verilmiştir. Bu çalışma alan araştırmasına dayalı olup gözlem ve görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Giriş bölümünün sonunda ise araştırmada karşılaşılan zorluklar dile getirilmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise ölümle ilgili uygulamalar gruplandırılmış, bunlar önce dört ana başlık altında değerlendirilmiş, ölüm öncesi âdetler, ölüm sırasındaki âdetler, ölüm sonrası âdetleri ve mezar-mezarlık etrafında oluşan âdetler şeklinde incelenmiştir. Bu ana başlıklar alt başlıklara ayrılarak incelenmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde mukayeseye yer verilmiş, ikinci bölümde teferruatlı olarak anlatılan konulardaki âdetler gruplandırılmış ve iki köydeki benzerlik ve farklılıklar tablolarla ortaya konmuştur. Son bölümde de her iki köydeki ölüm âdetleri ve mukayesesi sonucunda elde edilen sonuçlar dile getirilmiştir. Konuyla ilgili resimler çalışmanın sonuna eklenmiştir. VIII

SUMMARY This study is concerned with the customs of death in Çökekler and Kaynarca villages of Adapazarı in Sakarya province. Because the incident of death is one of the important turning points in social life, the number of death related customs are quite large. This thesis consists of four chapters. In the introduction, the purpose of the study, its scope and a descriptive account of the villages in question were given. One of the features of the villages is that their inhabitants are called `Manav` which means local people of Turkish background. Therefore some information about `Manavs` has also been given. This study is based upon field research for which interview and observation methods were adopted. In the last part of the introduction, difficulties encountered during the course of the study were highlighted. In the second chapter, customs of death are grouped under four main headings; pre- death customs, practices during the course of death, post-death customs and customs related to grave and graveyard. These main headings were backed up with subheadings. The third chapter deals with relative comparison of the similarities and dissimilarities of the customs of these two villages and with classification of the customs touched upon in the second chapter. The results were presented in tabulated format. In the last chapter, conclusions derived from the comparisons and evaluation of the customs in both villages were presented. Moreover, photographs concerned with the subject were added in the end of the thesis.
