17. yüzyıl başlarında Galata`da ticari hayat

Abstract

İstanbul'un ele geçirilmesinden kısa bir süre sonra Galata, Osmanlılara barış yoluyla teslim edilmişti. Ayrıca Sultan II. Mehmed, Galatalılara, ahidname vererek ticarete devam etmelerini istemiştir. Böylece şehrin ticari karakterini korumuştu. Bundan sonraki süreçte Galata'ya başka ticaret yapmak isteyen uluslarda yerleşmişler ve ticari faaliyetlerde bulunmuşlardı.Galata limanlarının sağladığı imkânlar sayesinde deniz ticaretine elverişliydi. Bu sebeple burada iç ticaret olduğu gibi uluslararası ticarette vardı. Bu çalışmada müslüman, zimmî ve müste'men ortaklıklarına, birbirlerine borç vermelerine değinilmiştir. Ayrıca birbirleri arasında yapılan borç ilişkilerinde kefil olmaları görülmüştür. Bundan başka Gümrük bölgesi incelenerek zaman içindeki değişimleri değerlendirilmiş ve mevcut ticaretten alınan gümrük vergileri incelenmiştir.Galata birçok farklı ulusa ev sahipliği yapmıştı. Ayrıca diplomatik bir bölge olma mahiyetini de taşımıştı. Burada olan diplomatlar kendi uyruklarının sorunlarıyla ilgilenirken burada sadece ticaret için bulunan kişilerin haklarını da korumak için ellerinden geleni yapıyorlardı. Bundan başka ticari hayatı ilgilendiren meselelerle ilgili birçok yerli görevli de bulunmaktaydı. Bunlar hükümetin istekleri doğrultusunda ticari hayata müdahale etmekteydiler.Ayrıca ticari hayatın tehlikeleri konusunda doğal olaylarla gemi batması veya korsan baskınları sebebiyle oluşan maddi zararlar ve ticaret ile uğraşanların esir düşmesi de ticari hayatta karşılaşılan olumsuz durumlardandı. Ayrıca tüccarların diğer halletmeleri gereken mesele mallarının nakliyesiydi.Bu çalışmada 17. yüzyıl başlarında Galata'daki ticari hayat; ticari ortaklıklarıyla, sermaye temin meseleleriyle, görevlileriyle, tehlikeleriyle, nakliye meseleleriyle, mallarıyla ve vergileriyle yani ticari hayatı kuşatan kurum ve kavramlarla incelenmiştir.

Shortly after the conquest of Constantinople, Galata was delivered to Ottoman with peacefully. Moreover, Sultan II. Mehmed asked the Franks sitting in Galata to continue the trade by giving a treaty. Thus, II. Mehmed maintained the commercial character of this city. In the next process, they had settled and engaged in commercial activities in other nations that wanted to trade in Galata.Galata was suitable for sea trade thanks to the facilities provided by its ports. For this reason, there was domestic trade as well as international trade. Here, Muslim, non-Muslim and non-Muslim partnerships, lending to each other has been mentioned. In addition, they were seen as guarantors in the debt relations between each other. Furthermore, the Customs region was examined and the changes in time were evaluated and the customs taxes taken from the current trade were examined.Galata was home to many different nations. In addition was a diplomatic region. The diplomats here are interested in the problems of their nationality and were doing their best to protect the rights of individuals. Furthermore, there were many local officials involved in matters of commercial life. They intervene in commercial life in accordance with the government's wishes.In addition, natural hazards related to the dangers of commercial life, material damage caused by shipwreck or pirate raids and the captivity of those dealing with trade were also negative situations encountered in commercial life. Moreover, the other thing that the traders had to deal with was the transport of their goods.In this study, commercial life in Galata in the early 17th century; commercial partnerships, capital procurement issues, officials, dangers, shipping issues, with commercial goods and taxes, ie commercial life with the elements surrounding it was examined.
