Abstract
The aim of this study is to calculate environmental equilibrium distributionsfor selected organophosphorus pesticides and thus to indicate where each of themgoes, what relative concentrations they adopt in the environmental compartments, andaverage residence time (persistence) of the solute in the system. In this study, Mackay's Level II Fugacity Model based on the concept offugacity that characterizes the escaping tendency from a phase is used forcalculations. The fugacity calculations are applied to an evaluative environment, `unitworld`, consisting of compartments of air, soil, water, and biota, suspended solidsand sediment. Each compartment is assigned a reasonable volume and properties.Mass distribution, concentration reaction distribution with no advection of thosechemicals are calculated from physical and chemical data and partition coefficients. When the results are designed, they partition in soil, sediment, and watercompartments. Dominant reactions are hydrolysis and biodegradation in water andsoil.
