Abstract
In this study, the effects of mold entry angle, temperature, pressure and velocity parameters on the common problem of die swell ratio in the extrusion of plastic materials have been researched experimentally. The Polypropylene (PP) produced by PETKİM and widely used in the extrusion processes in the field of industry has been selected as the experiment material. 210 ºC and 230 ºC as the temperature parameter and 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 rpm. as the screw velocity parameter have been determined. The capillary molds having 3 mm diameter in different sizes (30mm, 45mm and 60 mm) and angles (45º, 60º, 75º, 90º, 105º, 120º, 180º) have been used in this study. As a result of the experimental studies; it has been observed that the die swell ratio decreases as the L size increases in the molds with the same mold entry angles and different L sizes. However, it has been observed in the experiments performed with the molds having the same L sizes but different mold entry ratios that the rising feed rate causes the die swell ratio to increase
