Abstract
ABSTRACT The Compulsory Education Problems of Young Girls in Rural Areas in Turkey ( Inner Anotolia Region). This study deals with the compulsory education problems of young girls living in rural areas of inner Anatolia region. In our country, compulsory education is in the constitution, laws, regulations, development plans and the Council of Ministry of Education, however, the problems of it are yet to be solved. Young girls living in villages are not able to benefit from the right for education. The number of the girls attending primary schools in villages is lower than that of the boys. This study aims at identifying the problems seen in primary education by young girls and suggesting their possible solutions. Literature searching has been applied to the study to determine the present situation, problems and laws related with compulsory education. In Çorum, Ankara, Konya, Eskişehir and Kayseri, the city, town school principals and adminstrators, who were twenty-five, were interviewed as a representation of the whole problem. Next, four hundred and fifty parents and young girls were also interviewed in the villages of these cities. Data obtained from the questionaries directed to the parents and young girls was evaluated interms of frequency and ratio and then the results were shown in graphics and data from the principals and administrators was directly evaluated. According to the research, the reasons for young girls not being able to attend schools are traditions, socio-economic conditions and pupil transportation system. It is necessary for everyone to do his best to provide all children especially young girls with equal education rights as soon as possible in our age. y
