Abstract
Bu araştırmada, Polis Koleji öğrenci, öğretim elemanı ve idari çalışanlarının metaforlar yardımı ile ideal bir Polis Koleji ile Ankara Polis Kolejini nasıl betimlediklerinin saptanması amaçlanmıştır.Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2008-2009 eğitim-öğretim yılı ikinci yarıyılda Ankara Polis Kolejinin 9-12'nci sınıflarında okuyan 20 öğrenci ile farklı branşlardan 15 öğretim elemanı ve okulda sınıf komiseri olarak görev yapan 10 idari çalışan oluşturmuştur.Araştırmada veri toplama süreci nitel yaklaşımla yürütülmüştür. Nitel araştırmada en yaygın olarak kullanılan veri toplama yöntemlerinden biri olan ?açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan görüşme? tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada toplanan veriler, içerik analizine tabi tutulmuştur.Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen sonuçlar şu şekilde özetlenebilir:İdeal bir Polis Koleji ile ilgili olarak öğrenciler, öğretim elemanları ve idari çalışanlar en çok oranda, ?gelişme, olgunlaşma ve yetişme yeri olarak okul? kategorisini temsil eden ağaç, ağaç kökü, buğday tarlası, toprak, tohum, yapboz, insan vücudu ve sera metaforları ile ?bilgi ve aydınlanma yeri olarak okul? kategorisini temsil eden kitap, kitaplık, eğitim yuvası, kalp, güneş ve midye metaforlarını kullanmışlardır.Polis Kolejinin mevcut durumu ile ilgili olarak öğrenciler, öğretim elemanları ve idari çalışanlar en çok oranda, ?şekillendirici, biçimlendirici ve yönlendirici bir yer olarak okul? kategorisini temsil eden bukalemun, fabrika, ütopya, arıtma tesisi, arızalı fabrika, akvaryum, biçerdöver, memur metaforları ile ?disiplin, terbiye ve kontrol merkezi olarak okul? kategorisini temsil eden aksak adam, asker, dünya, hücre, sınav yeri, yaşlı ağaç, bodur ağaç metaforlarını kullanmışlardır. This study aims at determining how police college students, teachers and administrative staff describe an ideal Police College and Ankara Police College based on metaphors.The population of this study consisted of 20 students from 9-12th grades, 15 teachers from different branches and 10 administrative staff in charge of students in Ankara Police College during the second semester of 2008-2009 academic year.For the data collection process, qualitative research method was used including the interview technic consisting of open-ended questions, which is one of the most widely-used data collection methods in qualitative researches. Then, content analysis was applied over the obtained data.The results can be summarized as the following:In regards to an ideal police college, students, teachers and administrative staff mostly used the metaphors of ?tree, root, wheat field, soil, seed, jigsaw, human body and greenhouse? which represent the category of ?school as a place of development, maturation and growth?, and the metaphors of ?book, bookcase, education home, heart, sun and mussel? which represent the category of ?school as a place of knowledge and enlightenment?.In regards to the current situation of police college, students, teachers and administrative staff mostly used the metaphors of ?chameleon, factory, utopia, filtration facility, broken-down factory, aquarium, combine-harvester, public servant? which represent the category of ?school as a place for shaping, forming, and directing?, and the metaphors of ?lame man, soldier, earth, cell, exam place, old tree, shorty tree? which represent the category of ?school as a place of discipline, good-manners and control-center?.
