Abstract
80 SUMMARY The comparison of bilateral and unilateral prosthesis designs used in Kennedy Class- II cases from the view point of retention and stability. Various bilateral and unilateral prosthesis designs used in Kennedy Class-II unilate¬ ral free end cases have been compared for their retention and stability in this investigation. Nine mandibular models of Kennedy Class-II partially edentulous case have been prepared from the photoelastic material for the stability and stress analysis tests. Three groups of unilateral and six groups of bilateral framework designs were made on the models and the castings were done and finished with the routine techniques. These models were loaded under special conditions for the three dimensional stress analysis. in this technique, parallel sections of models were analysed under polarized light in Polariscope and then the photographs were taken. Number of fringes on the photographs were counted and evaluated. in addition the results were shown with graphics and compared with each other. On the other hand, Kennedy Class-II mandibular model from acrylic resin was pre¬ pared and the framevvork designs rneııtioned above were done for the retention tests. Each framevvork was tested ten times to measure tensile forces and to define the strength of the force resisting to remove the prosthesis and the results were evaluated statistically. 80 SUMMARY The comparison of bilateral and unilateral prosthesis designs used in Kennedy Class- II cases from the view point of retention and stability.
