Abstract
ABSTRACT This study, which consists of five chapters, attempts to present communicative materials which create situations and give students opportunities to use the foBBign language in conversational English out of a textbook* îhe study emphasized the importance of real- life communication and situation to be brought or crea ted into the classroom. In the first chapter, the above-mentioned emphasise was presented. In the second chapter, the theories to teach communicative competence and its relation mthil.nguistic competence and their places in teaching foreign/second language. In the third chapter, it was dealt with the language teaching aids, especially for conversational English. (Ehe forth chapter is concerned with the materials used out of a textbook» fhese materials were specially chosen in order to serve foreign language teachârş as a handbook for their conversation-purposed lessons. » The last chapter reviews the importance of creating real-life communication in class, and the shortcomings tiiat might arouse in using the communicative materials. 11
