Abstract
ABSTRACT The purpose of this survey is intended to specify validly the target communicative competence of the freshman Chemical Engineering Students at M,E,T.,U,. In this regard, the data have been obtained by means of a questionnaire given to students and a structured interview conducted with some instructors, A model of an ESP Course Design is introduced on the basis of the interpretations gained from the available answers of the mentioned devices. The first chapter contains an introductory phase based on general background to the study, problem, aim and scope of this investigation, assumptions, and limitations. In Chapter II, a review of literature about some approaches to an ESP curriculum design and models in communicative syllabus is presented and discussed thoroughly. Chapter III defines and illustrates the nature of the method that has been used, including its application and the analysis of the results, Chapter IV describes fully the framework of the proposed model concerned with this thesis, A final Chapter, V, is allotted for the conclusions and some suggestions for subsequent studies.
