Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of mobile learning application in Graphics and Animation Lesson on students' academic achievement and attitudes toward mobile learning. The effect of implementation process on students' animation development levels was also investigated. Pre-test – post-test control group quasi-experimental research design was used in the study as research method. The study is conducted with 2nd grade undergraduate students, 15 of them in experimental group and 26 of them in control group, who studies in Computer Education and Instructional Technology Department, Buca Education Faculty, Dokuz Eylul University, in the second term of the 2013-2014 academic year. Academic Achievement Test and Attitude Scale Towards Mobile Learning were administered to both groups for pre-test and post-test in this research as data collection tools. In addition, animations which were developed by students were collected as data collection tools after instruction. Academic Achievement Test and Attitude Scale Towards Mobile Learning results were analyzed with SPSS (22,0 version) software. Independent samples t-test and mann-whitney u test were used in order to determine whether there is meaningful difference between both groups' achievement and attitude scores. Animations which were developed by students were evaluated by using Animation Development Level Rubric. There is significant difference between experimental and control groups in favor of the experimental group in terms of academic achievement scores while significant difference has not been found between experimental and control groups attitudes towards mobile learning. There is no significant difference between the pre test and post test scores of experimental and control groups attitudes towards mobile learning. As the animations that the students developed at the end of the implementation were analyzed, it seems that there is a significant difference in the aspect of level of developing animation in favor of experimental group.
