Abstract
Totally 16 groups of concrete produced by replacing expanded perlite aggregate (EPA), pumice aggregate (PA) with fine aggregate (0-2 mm) with the ratios of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% in weight, by using polypropylene fiber (PPF) with the ratios of 0,15%, 0,25%, 0,35%, and 0,50% of concrete and by adding air entraining agent (AE) with the ratios of 4% and 6% in volume, were analyzed before and after high temperature effects (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700ºC) by examining compressive strength, dry unit weight and capillary permeability properties. Dosage was chosen as 500 kg/m3 and silica fume (SF) was used with the ratio of 7% instead of cement in all concrete mix groups. All of the concrete specimens were kept in humid environmental conditions, and then cured in lime saturated water 23+1ºC for 27 days. After curing, specimens were kept at 7 different temperatures as 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700ºC for three hours, and then cooled to room temperature in laboratory conditions. Only control group specimens were exposed two different cooling regimes, in air and in water. Except control group all specimens are cooled in air. Compressive strength and dry unit weight values are decreased in specimens, which EPA and PA replaced with fine aggregate with the ratios of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, both before and after high temperature effects. But the reductions in compressive strength were determined less at all temperatures according to control specimens. It was determined that, the difference between control specimens and other groups decrease with the increase of heat and it was observed that there was not a pronounced difference between control specimens and other groups after 600ºC. With the increasing of the temperatures dry unit weights decreased. The maximum reductions due to the PA and EPA were at 100% of their replacement of sand. The capillarity coefficient of samples increased with the increasing of the exposed temperature. AE improved the capillarity coefficient of samples at all level of high temperature. Capillarity coefficient of samples due to the PPF was fluctuated.2008, 154 pagesKeywords: Pumice aggregate, expanded perlite aggregate, polypropylene fiber, air entraining agent, high temperatures, strength, capillary coefficient.
