Abstract
The importance of heating and cooling systems is increasing every day. The heat pump systems which are an alternative to traditional heating and cooling systems are among the most popular systems in recent years. Using in residential heating and cooling to the heat pump system is important to conserve natural researches and reduce environmental pollution. Also, the heat pumps are reducing the heating energy cost in comparison with conventional systems. In this study, the performance of the vertical ground source heat pump system was experimentally investigated in the province of Erzurum. The experiments were carried out (in the months of December, January, February, March and April) in the heating season of 2009-2010. It was calculated from the experimental results that the coefficient of performance of the heat pump and system in average are approximately 2.6 and 2.2, respectively. In conclusion, it was determined that the vertical ground source heat pump system could be used in the province of Erzurum with cold climate.
