Abstract
In this thesis, an optimal control problem for a given Schrödinger equation has been considered. In the first section after a general introduction about the theory of optimal control, in the second section, the theorems, lemmas and some mathematical concepts which will be used in other sections and constitute the basis of the thesis, have been given. In the third section, the considered optimal control problem has been started to investigate in the set of admissible controls which consists of measurable, square integrable functions with their first derivatives. First, the results about existence, uniqueness and stability of the solution of Schrödinger initial-boundary value problem have been proven. Then, the outcomes of existence and uniqueness of the solution of optimal control problems have been discussed. Consequently, the issues of differentiability of the functional and obtaining the adjoint problem that can be taken as innovation to science of this thesis, have been examined. By proving the continuity of the considered functional, opportunities to deal with numerical treatment have been held. Finally, an appropriate algorithm has been given for establishing a minimizing sequence which converges to optimal solution.
