Abstract
Petroleum Refineries are the place which fuel and chemical components are produced. One of the most important process in the refinery is distillation. In the distillation of crude oil, a wide variety of hydrocarbon compounds contained in crude oil are separated by certain cuts according to their boiling point range. In this thesis study, the simulation values obtained by using the ASPEN Hysys program were compared with the field values obtained from the various test-run studies performed in the ATAŞ refinery. Several thermodynamic models have been tested in the Aspen Hysys Simulation program. The Aspen Hysys program was used to simulate different crude oil throughput (50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110 TBD)) at the inlet temperature of 370 °C of ATAŞ crude oil dşstillation tower with Kirkuk crude oil.It has been tested that crude oil tower does not operate under 50 TBD (thousand barrels/day), and according to our test the tower work till 100 to 110 TBD.It is found that these values are compatible with the actual working capacity of the refineries. The distillation tower was simulated at different temperatures, including the inlet temperature of the crude oil furnace at 360 °C, 370 ° C and 380 °C, keeping the 100 TBD flow rate constant. As the temperature increased, the amount of resid was decreased and the it is concluded that the entrance temperature of the 370 °C crude oil tower detected by the refinery experience is in place.Keyword: Aspen Hysys, Distillation, Optimization, Simulation, Test-run.
