Abstract
Saraçhane Semti, özellikle Osmanlı Dönemi'nde İstanbul'un fiziki gelişiminde etkili olan önemli anıtsal yapıların bulunduğu bir semttir. Bu semtin özgün dokusunun karakterini belirleyen yapılar, mimarlık tarihi yazımı açısından da önemli kaynaklar olmuştur.Bu semtte bulunan ve mimarının adı ile anılan Mimar Ayas Cami, söz konusu dokunun gelişimi ve bir dönemin yapı üretimi ile özellikle 20. Yüzyılın ikinci yarısında, kentsel gelişimin geleneksel dokunun yok olma süreci hakkında bilgi edinmemize olanak sağlayan ve incelenmesi gereken yapılardan biridir.Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nun hassa mimarlarından olan Mimar Ayas; 15. Yüzyıl'da yaşamıştır. Mimar Ayas'ın kendisi için yaptırdığı Mimar Ayas Cami ise İstanbul'un kagir ve kubbeli ilk mahalle cami örneklerinden biridir. Bu yapı özellikle modern koruma bilincinin kent dokusunun değişim kararlarına katkısının tam da tanımlanamadığı bir dönemde, hakkında ilgili koruma kurulu tarafından verilen taşınarak koruma kararına rağmen yıkılmıştır. Bu tez, 20. Yüzyılın ikinci yarısında korunması gerekli anıtsal bir yapının yok olma sürecini, dönemin imar ve koruma politikaları üzerinden incelemektir. The structures which determine the character of the original texture of this district were also important sources in terms of writing the history of architecture.The architect Ayas Mosque in this district, which is known by the name of the architect, is one of the structures that should be examined and allowed us to learn about the development of the texture and the construction of a period, especially in the second half of the 20th century, the process of urban development's disappearance of traditional texture. Architect Ayas, one of the hassa architects of the Ottoman Empire; who lived in the 15th century. Architect Ayas Mosque, built by the architect Ayas for himself, is one of the examples of the first mosque of Istanbul with its dome and masonry structure.The monument was demolished especially in a period when modern conservation consciousness was not defined in terms of the contribution of urban fabric to change decisions.The aim of this thesis is to examine the destruction process of a monumental structure which must be preserved in the second half of the 20th century.Keywords: Sarachane District, 15th century monument, construction decisions, committee decisions, reconstruction
