Abstract
- 80 - SUMMARY Apium graveolens var. rapaceum is used as a vegetable and cultivated plant in our country. The fixed oil was obtained (4.9 %) by using Soxhlet apparatus with petroleum ether from the fruits. Acidic value (3.7), saponification value (187.2), iodine value (75.3) and peroxide value (6,2) were determined. Fatty acids in the saponifiable part of the oil were transesterif ied by using Borontrif luoride Methanol reagent and analyzed by capillary GG on Ultra I column, FID detector. Helium was used as a carrier gas. Miristoleic acid (37.90 %), miristic (17.48 %) and petroselinic acid (10.10 %) were identified as major acids. Stigmasterol was isolated from unsaponif i able part of the oil and its structure was determined by using 1H NMR and MS spectroscopic methods. A furanocoumarine was isolated from methanol i c extract of the fruits by using CC and PTLC.
