Abstract
60 SUMMARY This study has investigated the methods and practise of doping on elite Turkish Weightlifters ( 36 male and 4 male ) were participated in the study. The information has been gathered through the use of a questionaire and an interview on face to face bases. The following points have been questioned ; -Anthropometrics make up and educational level, -Training age and major successes, -Pharmocological applications according to doping types -Personel view on doping -Harmful effects of doping application, - Personel reasons for doping, -Expectations from high level weightlifting and personel gains. The mean height, weight and age of the participants are 170.6 +8.347, 74.5 + 16.64, and 23.86 + 6.32 respectively. Educational level results of the group showed that 50 % of the participants were secondary school, 27, 77 % were middle school, 16.66 % were universitiy, and 5.55 % were primary school graduates. The mean training age was 6.87 + 3.58 for the group, and from the total subjects 40 % were Turkish championships, 30 %61 were at international meetings, 17.5 % were at European championships, 7.5 % at local championships, and were World championships medal winners. When the answer for the pharmocological applications were examined it has been observed that 90 % were using anabolic steroids, 85 % were using narkotic analgesics, 37.5 % were stimulants, and 12.5 % were using diuretics. 82.5 % of answers contained that pharmocological application is necessary in weightlifting. 97.5 % belived that the pharmocological application has increased their performance level. On the other hand 60 % of the answer concluded that they had harmful effect through the pharmocological applications. 65 % of answers showed that the weighrlifters inclined to use pharmocological to applications to guarantee to receive financial rewards through success. 82.5 % of the answer concluded that they looked to weightlifting proffesionally, and aimed to earn their living.
