Abstract
-77- ÎNGİLÎZCE ÖZET This research, is performed to determine the knowledge level of diabetic patients about their disease and it's complications. The research, is achieved on the patients examined in endocrinology outpatient and inpatient clinics of Gata, Numune, İbn-i Sina and Gazi Hospitals, in Ankara, Turkey. This research, has a content of general knowledge about DM, patients education and research component. The general DM knowledge is about the illness, complications and treatment of the disease and in case of research. We can see how the DM patient be educated. In research, the data are shown in tables with percentage and chi-square test, results obtained from the Inquiry forms of the registered patients. Computer has been used in the evaluation of the data. Optained data, were shown in the results chapter. Where recommendations and conclusions were established. The results of the research are as follows. It is found that patients don't have the enough knowledge about eye and foot care. The percentage of the patients who knew the symptoms of hypoglicemia is found to be less. We can understand that patients knew that they do not know much about their ilnesses. The percentage of patients who don't know the cause of their ilness' found to be high. It's shown that the patients who are treated with insulin know much about the aplication area and preservation of insulin more than the other subjects.-76- İnsülinle tedavi olan hastaların insulin enjeksiyonlarının yapımı, insülin flakonunun saklanması ve insülinin yapım zamanı konusundaki bilgileri, diğer konulardaki bilgilere göre daha iyi olduğu saptanmıştır. Hastalıkları konusunda eğitim almış hastaların bilgileri eğitim almayanlara göre daha iyidir. Bu eğitimi daha çok doktor vermiştir, hastaların çoğu doktordan bilgi almak istediklerini belirtmişlerdir. Hastaların hastalıkları ile ilgili bilgilerini en fazla radyo ve televizyondan elde ettikleri saptanmıştır. DM'un tamamen tedavi edilebilir bir hastalık olmadığını bilen kadınların sayısı, erkeklerden daha yüksektir, ama kadınların eğitim seviyesinin daha düşük olduğu saptanmıştır. Bu sonuçlara bakarak, hastaların hastalıkları konusunda yeterli bilgiye sahip olmadıkları ortaya çıkmıştır. Buna göre; hasta eğitimi konusunda yetişmiş sağlık personeli, odio.vizüel araçlar kullanarak eğitim vermelidirler. Sağlık ekibinin tüm üyeleri bu konuda çaba sarfetmelidir. It can be understood that doctors educate the patients want to be educated by doctors from the conclusion section patients prefer radio and tv, to get the information. Women who knew that this is not a totally curable ilness is more men the men's, but men's education level is higher. As a conclusion we can say that audio visuel methods must be used to train the patients and group education must be choosen to inform the patients. We may conclude that patient training is vital to empower them in taking necessary self measures to overcome their problems.
