In this study, the adsorption and desorption behavior of 2,4-D(2,4-dicholorophenoxyacetic acid) was investigated on five soil samples that have differentphysicochemical properties. The adsorption and desorption isotherms of soils were fitted to the Freundlichequation. From these isotherms, adsorption parameters i.e. K (adsorption capacity), lin(adsorption intensity) were calculated. Similarly, K and lin values were calculated fi'omdesorption isotherms, too. From the simple linear regression analysis between the sorptioncapacities and soil properties, it was found that soil organic matter favored the adsorption of2,4-D on soils.en_US
