Abstract
Thesis ) Sinan ÖZGÜR GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY June 2004 ABSTRACT In this study, the minimum detection limits (MDL) of elements in certified standart reference materials (SRMs) which have different matrixes were calculated. The SRM samples were taken from NIST, GOODFELLOW, IAEA and were in powder form. Samples were classified according to their average atomic number (Z) as Light, Medium and Heavy matrixes. The SRM samples were prepared as tablets with 500 mg weight. Net count and background for elements were obtained using Radioisotope and Tube excited X-ray fluorescence spectrometers. Using these values, with the formula obtained from literature and has 99.7% confidence level, the MDL values were calculated. It is seen, that the results were evaluated as a reliable reference for the analysis of different kind of matrix and essential parameter of a methot validation for quality system.
