Abstract
In this study, the changes in the mechanical characteristics of the mortars used for the plaster made under the high temperature effect have been researched. For this reason, four types of plaster mortars, including lime, cement, gypsum and hybrid mortar have been produced. Standart CEN sand, slaked lime, Portland cement, gypsum and drinking water were used for the production of mortars. The experimental study was carried out by five stages such as the sample production, cure, the effect of the temperature, cooling period and the mechanical experiments. Mortars were obtained from mixturing according to TS EN 196-1 standart. By taking into account of 110±5 mm propagation on the pour tray, the consistencies of the mortars were detected. After the mortars had been produced in the laboratory, the prism samples of 40x40x160 mm were obtained according to TS EN 196-1 and were cured in the laboratory setting which had the relative humidity of 50-60 % at 21±2 °C temperature for 28 and 90 days. The mortar samples were exposured to six temperature effects including 20, 125, 250, 500, 600 and 900 °C. The mortar samples at 20 °C was accepted as the referance mortar. The cooling process of the mortars were performed in two groups including in air and in water. After the mortar samples were at the room temperature, tensile strength of bending, compressive strength experiments were made. The results of the experiment were searched statistically and the effect of the high temperature on the mortars was identified. The produced mortar samples have demonstrated the continious increase up to 125 °C temperature according to the referance in tensile strength of bending, compressive strength. It has been obseerved that the values of the mortars in tensile strength of bending, compressive strength decreased permenantly after this temperature. It has been observed that there was statistically significant difference between the values of the tensile strength of bending, compressive strength of the mortar samples which were cooled in air and in water and the compressivenesses of all mortars were performed in the samples which were cooled in air. As a result, It has been observed that the cement mortar showed the highest compression among the produced mortars and that the cooling process in air had beter results in the mortars exposured to the high temperature.
