Abstract
Nuclear fusion has a great potential as the energy source for the future. The cross sections of nuclear reactions produced by charged particles occupy an important place in the fusion reactor technology. In this study, the (d,n), (d,2n), (d,p), (d,2p), (d,t) and (d,a) nuclear reaction mechanisms induced by deuteron particles were investigated. In this context, the excitation functions of some nuclear reactions up to 50 MeV deuteron incident energies were analyzed using nuclear models. The model calculations of the excitation functions were performed using the ALICE-ASH computer program. In these cross section calculations, the equilibrium and pre-equilibrium effects were investigated. The Weisskopf-Ewing (WE) model to describe the equilibrium effects, the Hybrid and Geometric Dependent Hybrid (GDH) models to describe the pre-equlibrium effects were used. On the other hand, the effects on excitation function changing of the level density parameter and the exciton number were investigated. Additionally, cross section formulas for (d,n), (d,2n), (d,p) and (d,a) deuteron reactions were suggested. The results obtained from the calculations were compared with the experimental data and TALYS based TENDL-2012 library data. Finally, the suggested empirical and semi-empirical cross section formulas show good agreement with the model calculations and experimental results.
