Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study is in vitro investigation of effect of a natural collagen cross-linker `genipine` with different concentrations and application time to bonding strength of different dentine adhesives to dentine.Materials and methods: In this study 28 wisdom teeth were used. 4 teeth were used as control group to which genipine was not applied. The research groups were separated into 14 groups to which genipine were applied. Genipine was applied in %2.5, %5, %10 concentrations for 30 and 60 seconds. After genipine application a self etch dentine adhesive `Adper Easy One Self Etch Adhesive` and a total etch dentine adhesive `Adper Single Bond` were applied and restored with composite resin (FiltekSupreme XT ). In order to measure breaking values the microtensile testing device (BiscoInc, ABD) was used. Stereomicroscope (Olympus, SZ61, Munster, Germany) was used for determining breaking types. OnewayAnova test was used for comparison of parameters between groups and Tukey HDS test for determination of group caused disparity. Student t test was used for composition of parameters between two groups. Results: The significance was evaluated on p<0.05 level. After usage of genipine for 30 seconds there wasn't significant difference between control group and self etch bonding group (p>0,05). After usage of % 2.5 genipine in both groups the bonding strength was increased. The highest value was measured in the group of %2.5 genipine application for 60 seconds followed by self adhesive group (46,22±12,98MPa).Conclusion: As a result increasing of concentration of genipine wasn't effective on bonding strength while increasing time of application increased bonding strength directly proportional.
