X. Yüzyıl müslüman seyyahların gözünden Mısır (tarih, ekonomi, kültür, toplum ve din)

Abstract

Mısır, yani Nil Deltası Antik Mısır, Helen, Roma ve İslâm Medeniyetleri olmak üzere Dünya tarihinin dört büyük uygarlığına ev sahipliği yapmış, bunların mirasçısı olmuştur. Bu mirasın içerisinde tarım, ticaret, mimari, sanat, yeraltı kaynaklarının kullanımı, vergilerin toplanması gibi çeşitli sosyal, siyasi, ekonomik ve kültürel unsurlar yer almaktadır. Seyyahların eserleri resmî evrak hüviyetinde olmadığından dolayı, verilen bilgiler müelliflerin kendi görüşlerini yansıtmaktadır. Konumuza mevzu bahis olan bu tür eserlerde yukarıda belirttiğimiz unsurlar, dışarıdan gelen birisinin gözünden anlatılmaktadır. Bu sebeple bu eserler sosyal tarih anlamında oldukça önemli bilgiler içermektedir. Bu çalışmada IX. yy.'ın son yılları ile X. yy.'da dini, tarihi, kültürel ve ekonomik bağlamda seyyahların gözünden Mısır'ı incelenmektedir.

Egypt, the jewel of North east Africa, fertile ground of the Nile Delta was the home of four great civilizations; Ancient(antique) Egypt, Hellenic, roman and Islamic. She is still their sole inheritor and benefactor in the history of the world. This heritage comprises of certain elements such as architecture, art, trade, agriculture, mining and use of underground resources, the collection of taxes. It also contains certain social, political, economic and cultural components. Since the traveler's journey book(diaries) are not considered official documents; the knowledge and information given in these works reflects the views of the authors. The elements we mentioned above are coming from an outsider's eyes and views. Therefore, these works are very important in the term of social history arena. In this study, we have examined Egypt from the eyes of travelers in religious, historical, cultural, and the economic context towards the end of 9th Century and 10th Century AD.
