dc.description.abstractIn this study· the effect of single tensile overloadson fatigue crack propagation in Aluminum 7075-T6 was investigated.Firstly,the relationship between the crack growth rateand the base stress-intensity factor range of the materialwas determined, by testing of six specimens under constamplitudeloading. Afterwards, it was observed that singleoverloading yielded retardation in the materials fatiguecrack propagation. This retardation behavior as a functionof the overload ratio was established and presented ingraphs.Moreover, based on the test results, two limitingoverload-ratio levels were determined, the first one beingthe threshold value, whereas the second one indicates thecrack arrest boundary.en_US
