Abstract
In this thesis, named the Historical Geography of Nicaea, the development of Nicaea from ancient to contemporary is considered in the way of historical geography. The period of Nicaea up to Authoman Empire is studied in the titles ; ancient times, Roma period, Byzantine period, consules period and Selçuk period. In the Authoman Time, it is studied as the conquerance of Nicaea by Authomans, the administration, the population and the economic structure after the conquerance. Geographically ; the climate, the geographical figures, geographical position, transportation and the relations about trade frame are studied. The economic resources of Nicaean Geography are studied as agriculture, feeding domestic animals and fishing. Also the properties of Nicaean Lake lying on the Nicaean Geography are investigated. Besides the cultural and scientific life, the Nicaean tile-making and its properties are studied. The historical wealth in the Nicaean Geography is considered stage by stage as Roma, Byzantine, Selçuk and Authomans. And the historical art of these periods are determined one by one.
