Abstract
103 7. SUMMARY In the research, churches in six monasteries dated between X.and XVIII. centuries were examined and tried to be settled into an obvious place into the frame of the region's art; and the influence with the other cultures which were in that region was also tried to be investigated. We started the thesis by giving information about historical and geographical situotion of the district. Then it was continued by the spreading of christianty to the region and growing of the Armanian churcho the main subject was investigated under the `catalog` headline. In that chapter that chapter, all the monastry churches were examined deeply one by one. In the evaluation chapter, buildings were examined widely with comparing and evaluating them each other by plan, place understanding, technic and meterial, and decoration of these churches. Consequently, it was understood that manasteries of the region, mostly, were built for the purpose of education. These religius foundations, the bases of which were churches, improved through the centuries and became a buildings group. Four different types of plan were used in these churches as plan. Another atractive point is that there were some parallel points between the Armenian churches and ottoman and Seljuk work of art, esspecially on decoration and roof covering. The time during which the buildings were constructed was under the control of Muslim States. This shows us that there wasn't religios pressure on Armenian societ, on the contrary the was a great freedom for then. The churches which were built by Armenians who lived in confidence among Muslim States and Ottoman State as `Loyal Socienty` throngh centuries. These are the proof of the vast tolerence of İslam society and civilization.
