Bernard Lewis`in İslam tarihine yaklaşımı

Abstract

Bernard Lewis'in İslam Tarihine Yaklaşımı` adını taşıyan araştırmamız, giriş ve üç bölümden oluşmaktadır.Giriş bölümünde konuyu inceleme amacı ve nedenleri verildikten sonra inceleme yöntemleri ele alınmıştır.Birinci bölümde, Bernard Lewis'in hayatı, eserleri ve ilmî şahsiyeti ile ilgili bazı bilgiler verilmiştir. Ayrıca bu bölümde Lewis'in görevleri, faaliyetleri ve bazı önemli eserleriyle alakâlı geniş bilgiler ortaya koymaya çalıştık.İkinci bölümde, Lewis'in İslam tarihi alanında üzerinde durduğu temel mevzuları ortaya koymaya çalıştık. Bu konuları Arapların Tarihi, Türklerin İslam dünyasındaki Yeri, Haşhâşî Tarikatı ve İslam Tarihindeki Yeri, Tarihte Batı ve Ortadoğu Kavramı ve İslam ve Demokrasi başlıkları altında topladık.Üçüncü bölümde Bernard Lewis'in genel olarak tarihçilik anlayışı incelenmiştir. Lewis'e göre tarih ve İslam tarihi kavramlarının ne anlam ifade ettiğine yer vermeye çalıştık. Ayrıca Lewis'e göre İslam tarihçiliğinin karşılaştığı başlıca problemlere ve Lewis'in kullandığı kaynaklara yaklaşımına değindik.Tezin sonuç bölümünde Lewis'in tarihe ve özellikle de İslam tarihine olan bakış açısının genel bir değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır.

Our study called `İslamic History Approach of Bernard Lewis` consists of an introduction part and three chapters. In the introductory chapter, after giving the aim of the research and its reasons, the methods helded during this research is shared.In first chapter, some informations are given about Bernard Lewis' biography, his publications and his academic personality. Also in that section, we tried to exhibite some detailed informations of Lewis' duties and activities and some important studies.In the second chapter, we tried to exhibite the basic issues Lewis concentrated on Islamic History. We classified these issues into the parts below: History of Arabs, Turks Position in Islamic World, The Position of the Assassins in Islamic History, The Definitions of The West and The Middle East in History and lastly Islam and Democracy.In the third chapter, we tried to investigate the basic historical perspective of Lewis i.e. his historical point of view. We tried to explain the terminology and the understanding of Lewis from history and Islamic history. Moreover we state the basic problems of Islamic history from Lewis' point of view and we also mentioned the resources he benefited during his studies. In the conclusion part, a general evaluation on Lewis understanding of History and particularly Islamic History is emphasized
