dc.description.abstractABSTRACT This thesis aims at assessing the degree of relationship between student success in language learning in preparatory school at Gaziantep University and some of the factors that are known to affect success in second language acquisition. The purpose of the study is to provide fruitful insights into the complex problem of success in language learning and to be able to answer the question why some students learn a foreign language quickly and thoroughly while others with the same opportunities fail to do so. The first chapter aims at introducing the background, stating the problem at hand and the hypotheses. The second chapter describes various studies that have been held on factors which are supposed to affect foreign language learning. Chapter III deals with the characteristics of the subjects, the questionnaire and the student evaluation form as research tools. Brief information about the textbooks, language laboratory and teachers is also is presented in this chapter. Data collection is included in this chapter. Chapter IV deals with data analysis. The fifth chapter presents the findings concerning the relations between the variables. This chapter includes the discussion of results, and comments on the findings. Chapter VI presents a summary of the study and conclusions.en_US
