T ' In this study, I am concerned mainly with what categories are with regard to the Kantian philosophy. Although I shall refer to other significant doctrines of categories in relevant instances, comparing and constrasting them with that of Kant's, I will mainly dwell upon Kant's theory and evaluate it with the philosophical problems which it yields. I will also try to discuss the major criticisms brought up against Kant. In this attempt, then, I will try to defend Kant's position trying to justify that there is a need for such a doctrine, that such a doctrine can be deduced legitimately only as an epistemological outlook, that Kant is justified in the number of categories. These points and the problems attending thereto shall constitute the topic of my thesis. / inen_US
