dc.description.abstractABSTRACT This thesis aims at designing an integrated composition course, in which grammar is integrated into the teaching of paragraph level composition, for the first-year students in the department of Foreign Language Education at Middle East Technical University. Chapter I presents the general background to the study. Chapter II is a review of literature on integrated writing. Chapter III presents the methodology used in the collection of data as well as the analysis and the Interpretation of the results. In Chapter IV, the suggested model to the integrative teaching of writing is presented. Finally in chapter V, a summary of the study is provided together with the conclusion and further remarks. The thesis includes four appendices: 1-The Questionnaire, 2. The Structured Interview, 3. Analysis of the Items in the questionnaire, 4. A list of the grades given to the paragraphs in the structured interview.en_US
