EEC`s trade restrictions: Effects on Turkish manufactured export performance, 1980-87

Abstract

ÖZET Bu calismada, ilk once dünyadaki ticaret eğilimleri incelenmiştir. Bulgulara gore Güney- Güney ticareti 1980' lerde Kuzey-Guney ticareti için yeterli bir alternatif o İmami st i r. Ayni sonuçlar 1980-87 arasi Türkiye için de geçerli olmuştur. Bu cal ismanin en önemli noktasi AT ' un tek taraflı ticari kişi 1 1 ama 1 ar inin Turk endüstriyel mal ihracatinda etkili olup ol madiğidir. ABSTRACT In this study, first of all world trade patterns are expl ored. I tis found that South-South trade did not constitute an alternative to North- South in the 1980's. Similar patterns are found for the Turkish case between 1980-87. The gist of the study was whether the unilateral restrictions of EC on Turkey's manufactured exports were effective or not. It is found that exvept from 1 9 6 <*, these were not effective in the study period. This result is obtained by comparing the imports of EC from Turkey with the restrictions. The decisive ractor on Turkish manufactured export performance between 1980-87 was Turkey's domestic policies. 1 1
