Abstract
ıx RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF SOME URETHANE OILS SUMMARY Urethane oils are modified polymers produced by the reaction of isocyanate with hydroxyl containing oil derivatives. They can be considered as the alkyd resin in which the phthalic anhydride is replaced by a diisocyanate. Compared to an analogous oil - modified alkyd or epoxy resin, the urethane oil is more viscous, dries more rapidly and has better solvent and water resistance. In the formulation of urethane oils, various oils were used such as linseed, sunflower, tall, dehydrated castor oils. Additionaly, Erciyes et. al were also used Ecballium elateriwn and Prunus Mahaleb Seed Oils. In literature, there are various studies about the investigation on Theological properties of some polymers such as polyesters and polystyrene. Various models have been proposed to describe the viscosity of polymer solutions, melts, suspensions. Some of these equations are Carreau, Ellis, Cross, Bingham, Casson Models. The aim of this study was to deal with the rheological properties of oil - based urethane polymers. Additionaly, the relationship between viscosity and temperature was also investigated with using Arrhenius Equation.
