Yoğun bakım ve servislerde çalışan sağlık personelinin ötanaziye yaklaşımı

Abstract
Dünyada bir çok boyutuyla tartışılan ve geçtiğimiz yıllarda Hollanda ve Belçika'da yasal hale gelen ötanazi ülkemizde henüz tartışma gündeminde yerini almamıştır. Birçok ülke, kendi koşullarını göz önüne alarak ötanaziye uygun yaklaşımı belirleme çabasındadır. Çalışmamız, ülkemizde yoğun bakımda ve yoğun bakım dışında çalışan hekim ve hemşirelerin ötanaziye yaklaşımını ortaya koymak için yapılmıştır. Bu araştırmada, yoğun bakım koşullarında çalışıyor olmanın, hekim ve hemşirelerin ötanazi ile ilgili deneyim, beklenti ve yaklaşımlarını ne düzeyde etkilediği ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır.Anket çalışmamızda İstanbul Üniversitesi İstanbul Tıp ve Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakülteleri ile Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanelerinde görev yapan 205 hekim ve 206 hemşireden elde edilen veriler SPSS 12.0 programı ile değerlendirilmiştir.Çalışmamıza katılan hekimlerin %55.6'sı ve hemşirelerin %52.9'u, ötanaziye karşı olmadıklarını ve hekimlerin %52.1 - %72.0'si, hemşirelerin ise %43.3 - %59.6'sı, ötanazinin yasak olmasına rağmen ülkemizde gizlice uygulandığına inandıklarını belirtmişlerdir.Ötanazi istemiyle karşılaşma sıklığının, yoğun bakımda çalışan hekim (%37.3) ve hemşirelerde (%34.9), diğer birimlerde çalışanlara göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde daha fazla olduğu ve bu grubun ötanaziye daha olumlu baktığı ortaya çıkmıştır.Yoğun bakımda genellikle terminal dönemdeki hastalarla ilgilenen hekim ve hemşirelerin, ?ötanazi? ve ?hasta hakları? konusundaki görüşleri, bu alandaki tartışmalara önemli katkılar sağlayacaktır. ?Ötanazi? konusu ülkemizde araştırılmalı ve tartışma gündemine getirilmelidir.Anahtar sözcükler: Ötanazi, yardımlı intihar, hasta hakları, yoğun bakım, sağlık personeli. Euthanasia, which is debated about in many aspects in the world and recently became legal in Holland and Belgium has not taken its place in debate in our country. Many countries are trying to determine the suitable approach for Euthanasia according to their conditions. Our research was done to find the approaches of the medical physicians and nurses to euthanasia. In this research it was aimed to prove that to be working as a physicians or nurse in intensive care units affects the experiences, expectations and approaches of them to euthanasia.Our data which was obtained by a questionnaire, was done with 205 physicians and 206 nurses working in Istanbul University Istanbul Medical School , Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Medical School and Bakırkoy Dr. Sadi Konuk Education and Searching Hospitals was evaluated with the SPSS 12.0 programme.55.6% of the physicians and 52.9% of the nurses who were participated in our research stated that they were not against to the euthanasia, 52.1% to 72.0% of the physicians and 43.3% to 59.6% of the nurses pointed out that they believe euthanasia is being performed secretly although it is illegal in our country.The frequency of demand for euthanasia was found statistically more meaningful in physicians (37.3%) and nurses (34.9%) who are working at intensive care units than others and it was appeared that euthanasia was more acceptable in this group.Aspects of the the physicians and nurses who are generally taking care of the patients at terminal phase in intensive care units is going to contribute to the discussion about ?euthanasia? and ?patient?s rights?. Researches must be done about euthanasia and ought to be put on the agenda in our country.Key words: euthanasia, assisted suicide, patient?s rights, intensive care, health personnel
