Abstract
Yaş ile algılanan sosyal destek arasında anlamlı düzeyde bir ilişki yoktur (p>0,05).Anahtar Kelimeler: Algılanan Sosyal Destek, Bağımlılık Profil İndeksi, BAPİ-Kısa, Çocukluk Çağı Ruhsal Travma Ölçeği, Çocukluk Örselenme Yaşantıları, Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği, Madde Bağımlılığı, Madde Kullanımı AbstractIn this study, it was aimed to determine the relationships between substance use, childhood traumatic experiences and perceived social support. It was studied whether childhood traumatic experiences and perceived social support were predictors of substance use by socio-economic status and family information such as age, gender, occupation/working status, education level, monthly income, living with someone or alone, and social activity status and psychiatric history and history of chronic illness or surgery in 507 participants of normal population of whom the ages range from 18 to 70. After giving information about the study with the Informed Consent Form (ICF) and receiving consent; Socio-Demographic Information Form (SDIF), Addiction Profile Index-Short Form (API-Short), Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) were applied to the participants. The substance use of participants was low (10.02+10.78); the level of perceived social support (55.50+20.33) and the level of childhood traumas (47.74+20.84) were above average. The most commonly reported traumatic experience was emotional abuse (10,33+4,96), the least reported one was physically abuse (8.29+4.82). The most perceived social support was from friends (19.26+7.26%) and the least percived one was from the other important person (17.94+8.01%). There was a positive and significant relationship between substance use and childhood traumas (r=0.73; p<0.01), and a negative and significant relationship between substance use and perceived social support (r =-0.60; p<0.01). Moreover, a negative and significant relationship between childhood traumas and perceived social support was found (r=-0.57; p<0.01). According to this result; the risk of substance use increases with the decrease in perceived social support and/or the increase in childhood traumas. The levels of substance use (p<0.01) and childhood traumas (p<0.01) are lower in older ages. The levels of substance use and childhood traumas are lower (p<0.01), and perceived social support was higher (p<0.001) in women, university and college graduates, those living with the family, those participating at social activities, and those without a psychiatric history. The levels of substance use is lower (p<0.01), and perceived social support was higher (p<0.001) in wageworkers, higher-paid workers (>$2000), and those with no surgery or chronic illness history. There was no significant relationship between perceived social support and age (p>0.05).Keywords: Perceived Social Support, Addiction Profile Index, API-Short, Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Traumatic Childhood Experiences, Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, Substance Addiction, Substance Abuse.
