Abstract
VH- SUMMARY In this research it is aimed to determine the levels of job satisfactions of nurses and factors effecting these. The research has been done at Cumhuriyet University Hospital. Research and Application Hospital. First of all the research aimed to involve 172 nurses. But some of those were absent and so did not paticapate and some of those were not allowed to involve in the research because at the bound of the research. So the research has been carried out with 103 nurses. To be form of collecting data, Form I (Nursing Introducing Form) produced by myself and Form II (Nursing Job Satisfaction Scale) improved by Aksayan(l) have been used. To determine the understandibility of the questions in Form I, a first application was done with 20 nurses working at Erciyes University. The data have been obtained from Form I and Form II. In the assignment of the data, F-test, Kruskall Wallis, Tukey test, Duncan's Multiple Range test have been used by using Epi 5 and Spss programs. In the result of the assignment of the data the following outputs have been obtained. It has been determined that most of the nurses (80.6 percent) are in the group aged 27 and below, 68 percent are single, 56 percent work at surgical services, 88.3 percent work as service nurses, 46.7 percent have experience in job for 5 years or more, 78.6 percent work 40 hours or less a week, 90.3 percent work by shift, 52.4 percent of the nurses working at nights and 51.5 percent of the nurses working during the day serve 15 or less patients. It has also been determined that 30.1 percent of the nurses chosed nursing occupation since they like this occupation and want to work in a job about healt. Again 30. 1 percent of the nurses chosed their working places to satisfy their desire and to make progress in their jobs. 78.7 percent of the nurses were appointed to their working place by their institutions. It has been obtained that most of the nurses (77.7 percent) have job satifaction in a mean level their jobs, the left 19.4 percent do not feel satisfied with their jobs, only 2.9 percent feel satisfied with their jobs. Although it has been obtained that the individual properties such as being married or single and the level of occupational education don't affect the level of job satisfaction, it has been obtained that the age of nurses affects the level of job satisfaction and when the age grows, the level of job satisfaction increases. 46It has been obtained that the properties of working conditions such as the services worked, weekly working hour, the experience in the job, the number of the patients have been cared at nights or during the day do not affect the level of job satisfaction. However the task in the service and the style of work affect the job satisfaction. It has also obtained that job satisfactions of the nurses working as a head of nurses in the services and working during the day is high. It has been obtained that the job satisfactions of the nurses who chosed the nursing profession, since they like this occupation to have a job or to be graduated from a college is higher. However it has been determined that the reason of chosing the working place and the way of coming to working section do not affect the job satisfaction. It has been seen that environmental factors from which nurses have job satisfaction in a high level are respectively security (x=2.39) and the job itself (x=3. 96), that environmental factors from which nurses have job satisfaction in a mean level are respectively the relations with administrators (x=6.28), that those from which nurses have job satisfaction in a low level are the condition of work (x=7.48), the style of administration (x=7.52), the promation chance (x=7.73), the chance of development (x=7.81) and payment (x=7.81). It has been observed that although the veriables which have relations, in the highest level with the general level of job satisfactions of nurses are respectively the chance of promotion (r=0.72), the style of administration (r=0.70), payment (r=0.67) and job itself (r=0.67), the veriables which have relations in the lowest level with the general level of job satifactions of nurses are respectively are sequrity (r=0.37), the condition work (r=0.49). 47 VH- SUMMARY In this research it is aimed to determine the levels of job satisfactions of nurses and factors effecting these.
