Abstract
In this thesis, we study multiple pedestrian tracking by detection using Kernelized Correlation Filter (KCF) based object tracking method. In order to improve the data-association results to object detections, Intersection Over Union (IOU) method is utilized along with Hungarian algorithm. The method performance is evaluated on the Multi-Object Tracking (MOT) benchmark, showing that combining both methods leads to better accuracy of object tracks on the sake of increased computation complexity. Among other methods, this thesis also applies Structural Similarity Index (SSIM) to be combined with IOU for data association in some scenarios. In night scenarios, this model which utilizes the luminance changes in images manages to give better results than the other adopted model (IOU) which gives better overall results among the other video sequences. This work shows that adopting a robust appearance model can perform better in multiple object tracking than a motion model that utilizes the same data association method in video data containing multiple pedestrians.
