dc.description.abstractVI ABSTRACT This study was carried out to determine the needs and objectives of the students learning English at the university level, and to suggest a convenient approach which may provide an efficient foreign language learning/teaching situation. The first Chapter attempts to give a background to. the study, and consists of the aim and scope of the thesis. In the second Chapter the literature related to the subject is reviewed. The results of the questionnaires are both evaluated and interpreted in Chapter Three. Iu the fourth Chapter the suggested approaches are given. Chap ter Five gives a brief summary of the study and some further remarks related to the subject. The present study has 2 appendices. The first appendix includes the student questionnaire and the second appendix contains the teacher questionnaire.en_US
