dc.description.abstractABSTRACT This study was carried out to find the effectiveness of Error Analysis as a basis for remedial study, the major aim being to find out a way to improve the learner's knowledge of the target language. The first chapter, in which assumptions about the study are made, attempts to give the background to the study as well as the aim and the scope. The second chapter reviews literature relevant to the subject. In the third chapter the nature of errors are examined to decide what an error is. Chapter four explains the types and sources of errors from linguistic and psychological points of view. In chapter five the case study is given, in which teaching, testing and data analysis are introduced, and followed by the evaluation and inter pretation of results. The sixth chapter contains a brief summary of the study and suggestions about the subject. The present study has 5 appendices. The first appendix is the lesson plan to present the grammar unit to be studied. The second appendix contains the test questions given after teaching, whereas the third appendix includes the analysis of data formed by the answers of Test 1. In the fourth appendix the organization of remedial study is given which is followed by a test the questions of which are provided in appendix five. ¦m-en_US
