Niçin Irak ve Suriye İslam Devleti (IŞİD/DAEŞ) Orta Doğu`daki geniş alanları bu kadar hızlı kontrol edebilecek

Abstract

The aim of this research was to examine the ISIS's control and influence in the Middle East, while treating the presence and influence of ISIS in Iraq and Syria as the case studies. With this aim in view, the important objectives of research were identified to include: exploring the emergence and rise of ISIS in the Middle East, with a special reference to Iraq and Syria; determining the extent and nature of influence of ISIS; examining the factors responsible for the success of ISIS; and identifying the security implications of the rise of ISIS in the regional and international contexts. Towards fulfilling the aim and objectives, a systematic review of literature was carried out while selecting ten studies each for identifying the reasons for ISIS's success and the implications of this success. It has been concluded that the principal reasons for the success of ISIS include: the authoritarian rule and sectarianism; ineffective governance and political turmoil and chaos; the interfering role by the US forces; and the exploitation of natural resources in the region. On the other hand, the implications of ISIS's success have been identified in terms of: human rights violations, the threat of returning fighters along with refugees; organized terrorism; ISIS-inspired terrorism; and the possibility of increased sectarianism in the Middle East, amongst others.
