Abstract
ABSTRACT According to the increase in industrial production, the development in science and technology, the population explosion and the increase of the standards of living, the energy requirements increase year by year. In countries all over the world, the 1/3 of the consumed energy is provided from coal reserves. Also in our country, it is estimated that there will be 19 million tons of coal requirement in 1991. Our country has a lignite reserve of 8.5 billon tons. But unfortunately, our low ashy and low sulphured lignite isn't enough. These lignite resourses, which are suitable for washing processing should be processed with the most suitable method getting the less amount of waste. For this reason the cost of the high quality household coal which is processed from the Soma coal should be estimated. In this project a washing plant feasibility study is made to process the Onen_Eynez lignite which has the most amount of reserve in Soma region. The general properties of the Eynez lignite, used in study, are taken from reference (2). Due to the data a processing plant flowsheet is produced depending on a 3,000,000 tons/a capacity. The dimensioning and cost estimations of the selected equipments are also done in the project. In addition to this, the economic analysis of the investment is also done using the total investment costs and operation costs. At the end of the study it is seen that, the added expenses of the processing operation are not so much as they are expected. Moreover, it is seen that the profit of the processing is very much when it is considered that the air polluting properly, threatening human health, is increased by this plant. It should also be considered tahat the cost of transporting the ash of the run_ofjmine coal to the place where it will be used and transporting of the trash of the ash by the local goverments are lowered. With a global approachment, this 70 % profitable will also be big resource for the economy of our country.
