Abstract
II ÖZET Antik Mısır'dan, Endüstri Devrimine ve günümüze kadar, tarih boyunca mimarlık, toplumların sosyal ve kültürel yapısının, ekonomik ve teknolojik olanaklarının, bilim ve sanat anlayışının gelişmesinin ve birikiminin yansıtıcısı olmuştur. Milletlerin politik ve ekonomik yönden en güçlü oldukları devrelerde, kültürel yönden de en verimli çağlarını yaşamışlardır. 16'ncı yüzyılda Osmanlı Devleti politik, ekonomik ve sosyal yönden en gelişmiş devrini yaşarken, o dönemde yapılan Selimiye Camisi de en başarılı mimari yapıt olmuştur. Ancak 17'nci yüzyıldan sonra gerilemeye başlayan Osmanlı Devleti'nin kültür ve sanatında da benzer yozlaşma ve çürüme başlamıştır. Bu bağlamda, Cumhuriyetin kuruluşundan 1980'lere kadar Türk Mimarlığının, o dönemin sosyo-politik, ekonomik, toplumsal ve kültürel altyapısı ile karşılıklı etkileşimi sonucu geçirdiği değişimler ve etkilenme biçimleri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Genelde Türkiye'den özelde İzmir'den dönemin özelliklerini yansıtan mimari örnekler saptanarak, geçirdikleri biçimsel ve bağlamsal dönüşümleri değerlendirmek amacıyla bu çalışma dört bölüme ayrılmıştır. Birinci bölümde; çalışmanın amacı, kapsamı ve yöntemi üzerinde durulmuştur. İkinci bölümde; Cumhuriyetin kuruluşu ile Türkiye'de başlayan çok yönlü batılılaşma ve modernleşme yolunda, sosyal, ekonomik ve kültürel ortamların değişimi, yaklaşık onar yıllık beş dönemde ele alınarak, mimarlık alanı ile karşılıklı etkileşimi sonucu meydana gelen mimarlık ürünlerinin, farklı mimarların ve tarihçilerin görüşlerinden yararlanılarak incelenmekte ve değerlendirilmektedir.Ill Üçüncü bölümde; ikinci bölümde incelenen Türkiye'deki gelişmelerle eş zamanlı olarak, 1923-1980 yılları arasında diğer kentlerden farklı tarihsel, ekonomik ve kültürel konuma sahip İzmir kenti özelinde, belirlenen amaçlar doğrultusunda, İzmir'in sosyo-ekonomik ve kültürel değişimler sonucu şekillenen mimarlık ortamının ve örneklerin, Türkiye'deki genel eğilimlerle karşılaştırılarak, yine farklı mimarların ve tarihçilerin görüşlerinden yararlanılarak değerlendirilmektedir. Dördüncü ve son bölümde ise; tez kapsamında incelenen bölümlerin genel bir değerlendirilmesi yapılarak, elde edilen sonuçlar belirtilmektedir. IV ABSTRACT During the history, architecture has been a result of the social and cultural position of societies, economic and technologic possibilities, the development and accumulation of science and art comprehension from ancient Egypt to Industry revolution and up till now. When the nations become strongest from the point of politikal and economical way, they were very productive for culture. In the 16.th century, while Ottoman Empire was living the most popular time from the point of political and economical and social attitude, Selimiye mosque was the most succesful/unique building which was built at that time. But Ottoman Empire's cultures and arts began to regress after the 17.th century. So from the establishing of Republik to 1980's, the changings of Turkish architecture which were the cause of that times, social and cultural substructure which mutual communicated and sorts of effection was tried to be clear. Generally from Turkey, especially from İzmir architect patterns which shows that time facilities that work separeted to four chapters with the aim of utilization formal contextual changings by determing. The first chapter deals with the aim, context and method of the study. The second chapter examines and evaluates the field of architecture and the architectural producta that have erected as a result of the mutual influence with an insight to the views of various architects and historians. The focus is - in five periods of approximately ten years - in relation to the changes within the social, ekonomic and cultural environments of Turkey as a result of multi-routed westernization and modernization activities emerging with the founding of the Republic.V In the third chapter, in relation with the developments in Turkey during the same era, Izmir in specific and the impact of its socio-economic and cultural developments characteristics between 1923 and 1980 - which vary from the historical, economic and cultural standing of other cities - upon the architectural field and its models have been evaluated with reference to the general tendencies in Turkey and, once again, with an insight to the views of various architects and historians. The fourth and final chapter engages in a general evaluation of the chapters reviewed within the scope of the thesis report and an emphasis of the findings achieved.
