Abstract
In recent years, the use of polymers in industry has been increasing. Therefore polymers are supported by different fibres to obtain composite materials, the reason being that polymers do usually not meet required characteristics alone. In this study the mechanical properties of jute fiber which is weaved from cellulose based jute fabric and felt fabric that is weaved from protein based wool fiber, are searched by tensile and three point bending tests. With the use of vacuum infusion method, three different types of composites are produced, mainly only jute reinforced, only felt reinforced and both jute fabric and felt reinforced.Tensile behavior and elasticity modul of the composites are determined by tensile tests. Flexural strength, deflection and elasticity modul of the composites are determined by three point bending tests. Tensile strengths of the composites were higher along the fiber direction as expected. Three point bending strength of hybrid composite is determined at both surfaces and it was that the felt side observed had more flexural strength.
