Abstract
SUMMARY Red active, disordns, strabisnilIN, nmbliyopia and other eye diseases were investigiilcil in all of the MKl stn«onlH I mm 5 primary schools in Sarıkaya - Yozgat Visual acuity of the students was imnded initially by a general practitioner using Snellen elimin. This wan followed hy III»' external cxaminalin or the eye with a hand loop for conjunctivitis, blepharitis or corneal pathology. Those with low visual acuity were given ıı ııTınclion examination by İlli' general practitioner. The extent of refractive disorders and its infuence on the compliance of the student's school training was also investiga ted. Randomly selected 80 students having no refractive disorders as well as the 140 students diagnosed m having lcfiaellvo disorders by the general practitioner were re examined by an ophthalmologist. The ıcsıılts found out by the general practioner and?I` the ophthninologist wen* computed. Among these, 8.8 % had refractive disorders, 5.1 % ambliyi »pia, 1.8 % strabismus, 2A % allergic conjunctivitis and 0.8 % other eye di seases. Oeluslve therapy was performed mi IS students with ambliyopia. Before the the rapy, appiopriate eye-glasses were ptesetlhcd and (Visucl evoked potantial) VEP was performed. VliP was repealed alcı the occlusive therapy.
