Abstract
SUMMARY In this research it is aimed to determine the main causes of job accidents. Since the complex natureof accidents, we had some difficulties mainly on conceptual and metodolo- gical. This fact lead -us to use multi disciplinary models. So we constructed an accident model by the analogy of stress models. In recent years there is a trend among, accident resarchers that the analogy of stress and accident models is possible. By the concepts and methods of system ergonomics approach and stress models we coped with such problems. Industrialization affects the modern man in various ways. Noise admited from industrial machine, chemical and biological agents exist in working environment cause stress on personnel. Technological innovations intend to improve such physical hazards but cause a new problem in mental character. Monotony and repeative operations are bored for workers. All the stress models are based on fitness of worker to environment. Man environment fit is interrelated; firstly worker's necessiti es sbcailfl be replied in working environment and secondly the ability of worker should be enough to work requirements. Otherwise there will be personnel and organizational results such as physiological patologiesand absenteeism, alcholoism and job accidents. This work consists of two parts. In the first part, general aspects of accidents were investigated. Definitions and environmental stressors were all described in a detail. Second part is an original one. Theoritical foundations of stress surveyed on the miners who work at Etibank Küre mine. As a result we concluded that most. of the accidents could be prevented by reduction the detrimental effects of stressors. So the management has to do a safety program and apply those strategies related to human factor and working condtions.
