Abstract
When we examine the profundities of history of thought, we realize that opinions of some philosophers became source to next centuries by passing beyond the age they lived in. John Locke, a typical representative of British Empiricism rising against the Continental Rationalism, is one of these philosophers. In this study, we tried to describe the understanding of knowledge in John Locke's teaching. We gave some general information about the knowledge problem and the history of knowledge problem. Locke quits the metaphysics assertions, and is concerned about the power and limitations of human's mind. The first problem he is interested in this matter is the opinion of not being any idea innately in human's mind. According to Locke, imaginations and conceptions in the mind come from experience because human mind is like a clean white paper (Tabula rasa). All knowledge is based on experience at last.
